About Jon Shaw - Chief of Police
Jon Shaw
Chief Jonathan Shaw was appointed as the new Chief of Police for the Margate Police Department on October 24, 2018, by City Manager Samuel May. With 22 years of public safety experience, Chief Shaw brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role until his retirement this year.
His career includes extensive experience as an investigator in specialized units, followed by supervisory roles in divisions such as the Criminal Investigations Division, the Special Operations Division, the Street Crimes Unit, and the Special Response Team. Chief Shaw served as a command-level officer since 2013 and was promoted to Captain in October 2015.
